Summary

Brought to you by Penguin。

The gripping new Jack Reacher thriller from the No。1 bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child。

Gerrardsville, Colorado。 One tragic event。 Two witnesses。 Two conflicting accounts。 One witness sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus - clearly suicide。 The other witness is Jack Reacher。 And he sees what really happened - a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away。

Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that this was no random act of violence。 It is part of something much bigger。。。a sinister, secret conspiracy, with powerful people on the take, enmeshed in an elaborate plot that leaves no room for error。 If any step is compromised, the threat will have to be quickly and permanently removed。

But when the threat is Reacher, there is No Plan B。。。

Awful (The Child’s failure)This was the worst Lee Child book that I’ve read and I’ve read all of them, definitely not up to the standard of his previous books。。

Reacher novels are usually a guilty pleasure for me。 It's all ultra American individualist wet dream bullshit but occassionally you just need some of that male masculine manly man man look cool and kick ass escapism。。 did I mention I was a man?!!That being said, they are taking a fair dive nowadays as Andrew Child takes over the writing and this outing was barely a meh。 Reacher novels are usually a guilty pleasure for me。 It's all ultra American individualist wet dream bullshit but occassionally you just need some of that male masculine manly man man look cool and kick ass escapism。。 did I mention I was a man?!!That being said, they are taking a fair dive nowadays as Andrew Child takes over the writing and this outing was barely a meh。 。。。more

No Plan B is a book for male readers。 Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 250 pounds, the hero is an irresistible force; attractive ladies flock to him, and the villains are terrified of him。 In a sense, the plot is predetermined and follows a well-known narrative that works for roughly three-fourths of the book; then, the story practically runs out of steam。 There were times when Reacher seemed out of character by using brutal force to murder the bad guys。 The plot, overall, felt strange, No Plan B is a book for male readers。 Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 250 pounds, the hero is an irresistible force; attractive ladies flock to him, and the villains are terrified of him。 In a sense, the plot is predetermined and follows a well-known narrative that works for roughly three-fourths of the book; then, the story practically runs out of steam。 There were times when Reacher seemed out of character by using brutal force to murder the bad guys。 The plot, overall, felt strange, which may have had something to do with the fact that Lee Child collaborated with his younger brother to write this novel or because I am new to the series。 Do not misunderstand; the book is entertaining。 I got hooked by the third chapter, lost interest in the latter half, and wanted the book to end。 There were too many dull side characters and subplots, and no number of gruesome action sequences could compensate for the numerous story gaps。 ╌★★★✰✰ 。。。more

It's pure Reacher。 A bit more complex plot than the last 5-1o books。 An improvement imo。 I have read all the Reacher books as an instrument of escape from my normal genres。 This was gifted to me。 Would I have bought it? Amazon $15 for kindle ebook /$28 paperback/ $20 hardcover? No way。 Just me though。 Others keep on buying。 He continues to make the NYT best seller the week they release。 Plus, several movies。。。 I would keep churning them out, too。 It's pure Reacher。 A bit more complex plot than the last 5-1o books。 An improvement imo。 I have read all the Reacher books as an instrument of escape from my normal genres。 This was gifted to me。 Would I have bought it? I've read or listened to every Jack Reacher book and I never thought I would write a bad review about one, but I have to this time。 This book made no real sense at all。 The separate plot lines never really intersected, made no sense at all, and were frankly impossible。 The plot line with the kid, Jed, haplessly making his was by bus was a complete waste of words and utterly pointless。 That part should have been edited out completely。 The Reacher character was nothing like he has been in past boo I've read or listened to every Jack Reacher book and I never thought I would write a bad review about one, but I have to this time。 This book made no real sense at all。 The separate plot lines never really intersected, made no sense at all, and were frankly impossible。 The plot line with the kid, Jed, haplessly making his was by bus was a complete waste of words and utterly pointless。 That part should have been edited out completely。 The Reacher character was nothing like he has been in past books with all of the thought processes going on in his head。 This guy was just violent and with I think only one exception he knocked his opponents out cold with a single punch。 Yeah, right! This book was really a let down after waiting so long to read it。 There was also an egregious overuse of the word "scruffy" for which the writers should be flogged。 If this is the best they can do with a Reacher book these days then this should be the end of the series。 It bears no resemblance to the earlier books。 。。。more

Started out great with instant action and a handful of seemingly unrelated story threads that were all very interesting and I really enjoyed the beginning。 Somehow I felt a bit tired of it all by the end though, but maybe that was possibly just me being literally tired instead of the book。 Anyway, great start and I'm always happy to read another Jack Reacher novel, but I'm rating this one four stars instead of my normal five stars。 Started out great with instant action and a handful of seemingly unrelated story threads that were all very interesting and I really enjoyed the beginning。 Somehow I felt a bit tired of it all by the end though, but maybe that was possibly just me being literally tired instead of the book。 Anyway, great start and I'm always happy to read another Jack Reacher novel, but I'm rating this one four stars instead of my normal five stars。 。。。more

I'm sorry to say the collaboration between Lee Child and his brother Andrew has not improved。No Plan B needed one。 I've always found Reacher books unputdownable, always 'just one more chapter' until I closed the cover with satisfaction。 I found No Plan B almost unpickupable, forcing myself to finish before the due date。 The plot of No Plan B, such as it is, is confusing and vague。 We meet a runaway but don't know what he's running toward。 We meet many bad guys, but we don't know exactly why they I'm sorry to say the collaboration between Lee Child and his brother Andrew has not improved。No Plan B needed one。 I've always found Reacher books unputdownable, always 'just one more chapter' until I closed the cover with satisfaction。 I found No Plan B almost unpickupable, forcing myself to finish before the due date。 The plot of No Plan B, such as it is, is confusing and vague。 We meet a runaway but don't know what he's running toward。 We meet many bad guys, but we don't know exactly why they are bad。 Unfortunately, neither does Reacher。 Nor is there any real reason for his involvement in the events that lead him to chase them。The Reacher of the last three novels is reactionary to circumstances around him rather than those that involve him。 He's become almost robotic with using his brute and fists and he has clearly lost his sense of morality。 If Lee had any part of the writing of No Plan B at all, it was his name on the cover and the contract。I can understand wanting to help your brother achieve and Lee may be accomplishing that for Andrew, but he his sacrificing a beloved character and his fans for that achievement。 I can appreciate loving your brother more than a fictional character and anonymous fans and some, many, will remain even as the Reacher we cheered is fading away into a one-dimensional caricature。2 Stars for No Plan B, the third time for the failed Lee/Andrew collaboration。 It may be time for Lee to write one more book solo and let Reacher retire to his wandering in peace。 。。。more

Not quite what I expected 。。。not sure if I like it as muchYou can distinguish the difference of Jack reacher。。 Jack has changed。。 He is not the same man。 He hasn't grown。。 More like he is a different person。 Jack is still not moved into this day or time and is still not the average modern man。 The plot seems general。 The bad guys too many。 Not the same at all and I have read them all。 Not quite what I expected 。。。not sure if I like it as muchYou can distinguish the difference of Jack reacher。。 Jack has changed。。 He is not the same man。 He hasn't grown。。 More like he is a different person。 Jack is still not moved into this day or time and is still not the average modern man。 The plot seems general。 The bad guys too many。 Not the same at all and I have read them all。 。。。more

Worth waiting for!The same old Reacher。 Complicated story。 Couldn't figure it out before the reveal。 Hopefully we don't have to wait another year for the next book! I'm very disappointed in this one。 Have read all of his, a number of them I've read twice。 This was so over the top on several things, so unbelievable, even for a Reacher novel。 I'm very disappointed in this one。 Have read all of his, a number of them I've read twice。 This was so over the top on several things, so unbelievable, even for a Reacher novel。 。。。more

I have read almost all Reacher books。 Enjoyed them thoroughly because of gripping storyline, superlative action, witty comments etc。 However, this ''No Plan B'' lacks everything for which I used to look forward to in a Reacher Novel。 If this trend continues then it is better to rest Reacher forever。 I have read almost all Reacher books。 Enjoyed them thoroughly because of gripping storyline, superlative action, witty comments etc。 However, this ''No Plan B'' lacks everything for which I used to look forward to in a Reacher Novel。 If this trend continues then it is better to rest Reacher forever。 。。。more

Avid Fan。。。 My Least Favorite Very disappointed in the storyline, tedious and boring in many spots, especially with the constant back and forth to various elements of the story, some so mundane they bordered on the ridiculous! The action seemed forced and unrealistic and the Prison Break was ludicrous and totally unrealistic! Find your former Mojo again Mr。 Child maybe sans Junior!

Reacher books have fallen into a pattern。 He gets off a bus, walks to town, finds some coffee and trouble, sticks his nose into it, busts a few heads, kills a few bad guys, hops into bed with someone he meets along the way, buys a complete set of new clothes and trashes the old, solves the problem with minor physical impact to himself and checks his cape at the town limits as he departs to a new adventure。

Herb Congdon

A very good Reacher novel。 Three story lines that keep you guessing how they will all come together in the end。 A good mix of investigative work, obligatory fight scenes and only a bit over-the-top situations。

As with all of the Child books once you reach a certain point you just can't put it down。 This story had more twists and turns and bad and good characters than I could imagine。 Certainly didn't see the ending at the beginning。 As with all of the Child books once you reach a certain point you just can't put it down。 This story had more twists and turns and bad and good characters than I could imagine。 Certainly didn't see the ending at the beginning。 。。。more

The latest Reacher thriller sees him witness a murder that is being dressed up like a suicide。 Reacher can't let that stand and his investigation sees him taking on a corrupt private prison。The best Reacher book in years and definitely the best since Lee began co-writing with his brother。 I feared after last years offering that the series was begining to run out of steam but this is a vast improvement。While there is a little too much unnecessary detail and Reacher is becoming almost Superman lik The latest Reacher thriller sees him witness a murder that is being dressed up like a suicide。 Reacher can't let that stand and his investigation sees him taking on a corrupt private prison。The best Reacher book in years and definitely the best since Lee began co-writing with his brother。 I feared after last years offering that the series was begining to run out of steam but this is a vast improvement。While there is a little too much unnecessary detail and Reacher is becoming almost Superman like, which dilutes any jeapordy he faces those are small complaints。 These books don't pretend to be anything they are not。After a few duff entries, Reacher is back on track! 。。。more

You can or at least I can tell the difference from those Reacher books in which Lee Child was the primary author and those in which his younger brother is doing the writing and editing。 In the former, although Reacher was and is a cartoon, at least he possess some humanity and a sense of humor; in the latter he is just a killing machine。 Save your money on this book…。。

In this one, Reacher is more of a detective than a vengeful gorilla。 And that's a good thing。 Up to a point。 With four stories converging on one place and one event, the novel holds interest of the what-the-h*ll-is-going-on variety。 However when I found out, I found it too far-fetched。 And that is saying something given that Reacher is essentially a boy's adventure for the inner child。Finally, Andrew Child does a fine job in taking over the series, but I do miss the very particular cadence and b In this one, Reacher is more of a detective than a vengeful gorilla。 And that's a good thing。 Up to a point。 With four stories converging on one place and one event, the novel holds interest of the what-the-h*ll-is-going-on variety。 However when I found out, I found it too far-fetched。 And that is saying something given that Reacher is essentially a boy's adventure for the inner child。Finally, Andrew Child does a fine job in taking over the series, but I do miss the very particular cadence and breathing of Lee Child's writing。 。。。more

A typical Jack Reacher novel that was a fairly enjoyable read but getting rather predictable for me。 Plot was fine but again far fetched in the way you see action movies do the same kind of thing。 Surely this series is ending its course, maybe the author(s) need to consider coming up with something new?。

Super disappointing Weird and disjointed with a hurried feel to it。 Seemed like a bunch of ideas forced into a plot。 Characters weren't well drawn。 Took ages to get going, then the important/interesting parts were rushed through, sometimes ticked off in little more than a paragraph。 Have read all Reacher novels and this felt like the least enjoyable。 Super disappointing Weird and disjointed with a hurried feel to it。 Seemed like a bunch of ideas forced into a plot。 Characters weren't well drawn。 Took ages to get going, then the important/interesting parts were rushed through, sometimes ticked off in little more than a paragraph。 Have read all Reacher novels and this felt like the least enjoyable。 。。。more

It was quite a good story although it got lost a few times and didn't make sense。 Not his best work considering I have read pretty much all the Jack Reacher books。 I listen to the audio version which wasn't that great。 In fact it was a bit embarrassing it was so bad。 His previous books where a lot better than this one。 It was quite a good story although it got lost a few times and didn't make sense。 Not his best work considering I have read pretty much all the Jack Reacher books。 I listen to the audio version which wasn't that great。 In fact it was a bit embarrassing it was so bad。 His previous books where a lot better than this one。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Not the worst Reacher novel, but a fair way below the best。 Certainly better than the last two。An interesting concept, using a prison to harvest body organs。As we might expect, the bad guys come to grief。 Justice prevails, as it should。I keep thinking that Reacher is around sixty years old, but he's still whipping the bad asses。 So, an ageless hero。 I'm OK with that, I guess, but it stretches the imagination a little。 Harry Bosch is now an old guy, but Reacher seems ageless。Reacher's assets seem Not the worst Reacher novel, but a fair way below the best。 Certainly better than the last two。An interesting concept, using a prison to harvest body organs。As we might expect, the bad guys come to grief。 Justice prevails, as it should。I keep thinking that Reacher is around sixty years old, but he's still whipping the bad asses。 So, an ageless hero。 I'm OK with that, I guess, but it stretches the imagination a little。 Harry Bosch is now an old guy, but Reacher seems ageless。Reacher's assets seem to be a roll of dollar bills and a toothbrush。 A pack of condoms would be a useful addition, but I guess Reacher expects his conquests to carry the risk of an unwanted pregnancy。 Not good Jack!Maybe there are a lot of junior Reachers out there, but with single mothers。 Not that mothers need to be married, but maybe having a father in the picture is not such a crazy idea。Does Reacher seem concerned that he might have offsprings? I love Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series but I miss Child’s unique touches: Reacher’s failures, his human interactions, and his interest in figuring out what is what。 This book’s Reacher is a machine who barely pauses to explain, never really interacts even with allies, and faces a particularly implausible super villain。 The final confrontations are downright mechanical and surprisingly easy (especially the apparently friendly tour of a sprawling workshop seemingly oblivious to the surrounding sit I love Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series but I miss Child’s unique touches: Reacher’s failures, his human interactions, and his interest in figuring out what is what。 This book’s Reacher is a machine who barely pauses to explain, never really interacts even with allies, and faces a particularly implausible super villain。 The final confrontations are downright mechanical and surprisingly easy (especially the apparently friendly tour of a sprawling workshop seemingly oblivious to the surrounding situation。)。 The body count is huge but body disposal and legal consequences are waved away。 Gotta take a star off。 。。。more
